Luke 1:26-33 and Matthew 1:18-25

Unlike Superman

Jesus was both vulnerable and invincible at the same time. He could be hurt, betrayed, frustrated and even angry but he could not be defeated. Christ in his death was Christ at his most invincible. When he suffered and died he conquered our greatest enemy, sin and its consequence, death. Christ was invincible in his love for God and his love for us. Be encouraged as you celebrate Christ’s invincibility this Christmas. the Rev

Celebrate Christ's Vulnerability E-mail

Luke 2:1-20 and Matthew 2:1-23

Embrace Vulnerability

Fundamentally all of us want to be invincible. None of us likes to be hurt, disappointed or rejected.  We strive to be strong, successful and popular. Weakness is something that we avoid or at least hide behind the mask that conveys we are ‘coping.’

However, vulnerability is in essence what it means to be human. The best relationships are forged despite the risk of being hurt. Such a friendship is valuable because we invest something of ourselves. To be close to someone means becoming vulnerable.

A Carol Message: Radical Gift Giving

Bomb
A bomb?
What I love about God is he is radical. We give presents as a result of his present to us, Jesus Christ. However what we don't appreciate is that we give presents to people we like, or at least to people who will buy us a present. Christ wants you to be like him, which means buying your enemies a Christmas present. the Rev

Hope in Jesus E-mail

Matthew 1:18-25

Why the fuss about the birth of Jesus?

Baby
Baby Jesus came to save the world
An incredible amount of energy, effort, time and money goes into celebrating the birth of Christ each Christmas. So the question then is why so much fuss over one birth when there has been billions of people born throughout history. When Jesus was born he brought hope to the world because he was and is uninfected, he came as the world’s Saviour and he is Immanuel God with us. the Rev

Carol Message: What does love Give?

Question Mark
What does love give?

Little kids often love the wrapping or the box more than the present. We can be like that to. There is much in our world to enjoy but sadly many don’t realise that enjoying only what the world has to offer is like playing with the wrapping paper while neglecting the real gift. God has given the world his gift which is not what you would expect. It cost him personally, he put a lot of thought and effort into his gift and it is certainly worth finding out what love gives. the Rev

Exodus 33:18-23 and John 1:14-18

Something for the New Year: 2008

I always find that it takes me a while before the New Year starts to sink in. This year has gone so fast, with so many different things happening. My year here has been great. As we face the coming year let me encourage you to cherish the Light. Christ is the one who gives life and light, grace and truth. Above all things cherish Christ throughout the coming year. the Rev

02 Receive the Light E-mail

John 1:1-18

For Christmas Day

Jesus was born in a stable and placed in a manger. Most people when they looked at Jesus only saw a little baby. But some who had spiritual x-ray vision saw the maker of the universe, the King of Kings, the light and life of the world. Be encouraged to see the Christ behind the baby this Christmas. the Rev

01 See the Light E-mail

Psalm 29 and John 1:1-5

X-ray vision

Life was meant to be easy but we made it complicated. Nothing brings this out more than the silly season called Christmas. We juggle family commitment, while making our preparations, buying presents, food, and decorations. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Christ with family and friends. If you would like to see beyond baby Jesus and the nativity scene then you need to see with spiritual x-ray vision. Christ's coming brings understanding to our lives, life where there is death and purity in the midst of moral decay; let me encourage you today to see the light. the Rev
