Jonah 1

Jonah was a prophet who loved his job. In 2 Kings 14:23-29 he had the job of prophesying that his Nation would win its battle against their enemies. All of that changed when God told Jonah to go Nineveh (enemies). Instead of going Jonah ran away in the opposite direction. Jonah was angry with God because he knew that God wanted to have mercy on the people of Nineveh. The book of Jonah is about God's struggle to teach Jonah something that Jonah didn't want to learn. Are you currently running from God like Jonah did? Are you angry with God because he is messing with your life? If you want to get out of the fishes belly or you would rather not get swallowed in the first place then listen to this message.

Luke 6:27-38

Every one gets angry. We use words like frustration, annoying, resentment to soften the fact that we are angry. Anger hurts people more than it helps them. Jesus offers you today an opportunity to exchange your anger for love. Christ will help you go from hating people to loving them. If your tired of being angry then listen to this message. the Rev

James 4:1-12

Anger is not what it seems. It feels powerful, but it weakens you. It feels honest, but it is full of blindness. It promises change, but it leaves you stuck. It seems simple, but it is complex and confusing. This is a message that will give hope to those who struggle with anger, particularly those who are angry with themselves. the Rev

Psalm 62

Jonah is a very carefully written book. Today's message unlocks some of its treasurers and applies it to our modern lives. the Rev

2 Kings 23:1-30

Is there any body out there?

Why does God seem so silent? And if he did say something how would you recognise him from the many voices you hear; your thoughts, the radio, TV, friends, family, books and advertising. God is calling you today. The question is whether you will answer his call, whether you will listen to him speak and whether what he says will change your life. the Rev

Batman and Jonah

Batman learnt that facing his fears was the first step to overcoming them. God wanted to teach Jonah to face his enemies, not to fight them but to show them mercy and pity, to be a blessing to them. Jonah refused and ran away. God responded by catching Jonah in a storm, waking him from his sleep and making him confess to the sailors that he was on the run. Perhaps you have a fear or a broken relationship that God wants you to face. Today is the day to stop running, hiding and resisting God. the Rev

Jonah 1:10-16, Matthew 5:13-16

A life changing encounter

Crises come in all shapes and sizes. You can fall off your bike, you can become bankrupt, you can be diagnosed with cancer or find your pet budgie has died in the night. Sometimes God catches us, he takes a hold of us in such a way that we know with sureness that God is real and active in our lives. When God has caught you; be afraid, don’t struggle and fear God. the Rev

8 - Call on God E-mail
Sunday, 29 April 2007

Jonah 1:17-2:10

Dial 7 for God

When you ring a company you have to press a series of numbers before you get to talk to someone. God is different; you don’t have to dial 7 for God the Father and 77 for the Holy Spirit and 777 to speak with Jesus. You just cry out to God and he answers, listens and delivers. God cares for you and is always open to your call. the Rev

Jonah 3

Beyond limits

What I love about God is he doesn’t push me to my limits; he pushes me beyond my limits. I can be polite to people I don’t like but God wants me to love them. I can forgive someone when they apologies but God wants me to let go of my anger and resentment while they continue to hurt me. I can love friends but God wants me to love my enemies. Living beyond your limits is the only real way to experience God’s call, God’s power and God’s compassion. First you must be willing to leave your comfort zone. the Rev

Jonah 4

What makes you tick?

Bombs are made to go bang! Disarming a bomb requires an understanding of what makes it tick. People are a bit like bombs, when they don’t get what they want they go bang! Jonah was exploding all over the place because God wanted to show wicked people mercy instead of judgement. God wanted to teach Jonah to have compassion towards difficult and hurtful people. Let me encourage you to learn God’s compassion, God listens, God disarms and God teaches.

We had a technical glitch during the filming of this video so one minute was lost. the Rev
