Making the expression 'No Worries' a reality - Phil 4:2-9

“No worries” is a phrase which is typical of our Australian psyche.

We don’t like to get too worked up over things. We prefer having a BBQ with our ‘mates.’ When we say ‘No worries’ we mean that there is no problem or inconvenience to us. If you're asked to help a friend your reply will often be “No worries.” But in reality we do worry. It’s often the attack of the ‘if’s’. What if things go wrong at work, what if my marriage falls apart, what if the kids go off the rails, what if I contract a terminal illness. If there was such a thing as worry warts we would be a Cane Toad's best friend. We worry because it makes us feel like we are in control, like we are doing something to overcome our fears. But worry costs; emotionally, physically and spiritually and only makes things worse (never better). You can overcome your worry problems by asking God to help you. The problem of worry is not complicated; it’s just hard to give up. If you are serious about overcoming your worry habit then you need to learn to like bringing your troubles to God more than worrying about them. The result will be that you will learn to trust God with more and more of your life and you will experience true and lasting peace.
