It’s a gift

Gift

Religion teaches that you must earn God’s love. But this would make God’s love a wage.

The Bible says (Romans 4:4)

⁴ Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.

The Bible (Ephesians 2:8-9) teaches that God’s love is a gift that is received by faith.

⁸ For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, ⁹ not of works, lest anyone should boast.

What does it mean to be a Christian?

It means being changed by God spiritually so that you can live according to his values for him rather than for yourself. It means that God’s values become more important than being selfish. It means that you will love God and love people more than you love yourself. It means being able to say ‘no’ to things that tempt you to do what you know is wrong and to say ‘yes’ to what you know is good.

What can you do?
