The Gift of Giving - Matt 2:1-23

Gifts are an important part of our Christmas celebrations

It’s wonderful when presents reflect a person’s thoughtfulness and understanding of us. Unfortunately our culture has made Christmas such a commercial (and expensive) exercise. The Wise Men came not to get but to give Jesus their gifts. They recognised that God had given them the most thoughtful and precious gift of all, his only begotten Son who would save the world. For most of us we tend to think in terms of receiving gifts. It isn’t easy for us to give. Gift giving is a gift that reflects a spiritual freedom. Christ came to set us free from our desire to get so that we can be free to enjoy giving.

Why not try and enjoy giving more than you do receiving this Christmas. Also, let me encourage you to think about what you might give Jesus Christ this Christmas.
