Who is Jesus Christ?

The answer will affect your life and eternity.

Over the last few weeks we have discovered that Christ is Lord over creation and he has authority to forgive sins. Both these abilities are unique to God alone. So with our brains we can answer "Jesus is God." But can we give the same answer as Peter (Mark 8:29)? "you are the Christ." Christ means Messiah, God’s Saviour. Jesus leads his people outof their captivity to sin. This brings a change of purpose and focus from being self-centred to being Christ centred. It’s not about you being happy and loved it’s about pleasing Christ and loving people. At school or work remember thatyou are there for Christ, you don’t need your boss or teacher to watch you because you work for Christ now. Your friendships are about how you can help, encourage and support rather than what you get. This takes self-denial, it means suffering for Jesus (for sharing your faith); it means working hard to follow Jesus.

This is the commitment Christ is looking for in people who answer "Jesus is my Christ; Lord and Saviour."
