What they are aboutThese blogs seek to capture something of what happens in our Year 10 and Year 11 Spiritually classes and some of the characters I meet on a weekly basis. Spirituality ClassesThe spirituality classes are a part of the School GOALS (The Gap Outdoor Adventure and Leadership Studies) programs which is a holistic syllabus that seeks to encourage students to explore and develop worthwhile values, priorities and goals. There is recognition that students are more than brains that need to be filled with knowledge. They are people who have to live in an ever increasingly complicated and confusing world. These classes seek to encourage students to explore their own spirituality. Hopefully the many questions raised in these classes will begin a life long spiritual journey for each student. How things work; roughlyBasically we get every year 10 and 11 class for about 5 to 6 weeks. We begin each class altogether, play some games or watch a short video and then we break up into small groups. Each Chaplaincy volunteer chooses their group. We allow the students to form their own groups so that they feel more comfortable. Then we stay in those same groups for the whole 5 weeks. This means we can get to know each other as we share what our spiritual journey is like. Blogs in their class groupingsThere are now quite a number of blogs which I have grouped together in their classes. From now on I will ask the classes to give themselves a name which should be interesting. Awesome stuff in hereThere have been some awesome conversations and spiritual insights which are well worth reading. I have enjoyed the stimulation of these classes and made some friends along the way. the Rev |
