| The Answer to: Life, the Universe and Everything? |

![]() The answer is '42' Some answered from an evolutionary point of view, that their purpose was to experience life and reproduce so as to continue the human race. Most people want to feel special, that they are going to make a difference in the world or at least to those they care about. There are two approaches to answering this question: Life with God and life without God. Life without God: The frame of reference for everything in your life and world will be you. Primarily everything that happens and doesn’t happen to you will be understood and evaluated by its impact on your life. Do your friends make you happy or sad, do they accept you or reject you, and are they fun to hang out with? Primarily your friend’s purpose is to meet your needs. Life with God: The frame of reference is not yourself but God. The question is not what I want but what does God want? God wants two things from us: that we love him and that we love people. God wants you to have an outward not inward direction. He doesn’t want us to be self-absorbed. Everyone’s purpose is to be like God in who we are, in what we say and what we do. Our greatest concern is how we can be a friend to our friends rather than the other way around. We live to serve rather than to be served, which is how Jesus Christ lived his life on earth. God made you to be like him. This is your purpose. We all have the same purpose, to reflect God, particularly his love, grace, mercy and forgiveness.
