A life long commitment.

Getting married is a big commitment, a life long commitment. It involves the initial vows and then comes the daily commitment to keep those vows; to be faithful. The vows made are not a statement of perfection but rather a declaration of the will to love and be faithful. If we love God then we will want to be faithful to him by separating our loyalty from the world and giving it to God. However, sin can still tempt us away from our desire to love and be faithful to God. Some marriages break down because people give up on their promise to love and they choose to love someone else. Sometimes we do that with God, we foolishly think that the world and its pleasures will make us happier than God does. This is a frightful mistake because no one can love you more wholly than God. Don’t give up on loving God or worse don’t try and love God and the world at the same time. Choosing God is not a once off decision but rather a commitment that is lived on a daily basis.
