Hi Josiah, Shawn, Nathaniel, Mag, Tim and Trin

Tasty Salt

Salt is used when cooking to make food tasty. Most of our favourite foods have salt; even vegetables taste better with a bit of salt.

Jesus said…

Jesus said that God’s children are the salt of the world (Matthew 5:13-14). When we use salt in our cooking we enjoy our food even more. So Jesus wants people to recognise that their life is better when God’s children are around.

How this works

No one likes a school bully, they tease you, maybe they push you around or beat you up. Bullies are avoided because they hurt our feelings and maybe even our bodies. We like to spend time with our friends because they are kind, patient, sharing, listen to us, and look out for us. Jesus says that God’s people are to be loving, kind, gentle and humble (Matthew 5:1-10). These are the qualities that God likes the best. Being mean and nasty certainly makes God frown. When we are loving to our friends (and even those who aren’t) we are like salt. People's life will be better from being with us.

How can we be salt?

Being loving is not answering our mum or teacher back when they ask us to do something. It is not fighting with our brothers and sisters but learning to do things their way sometimes. It is doing our jobs at home without being reminded. It is spending time with someone at school who doesn’t have any friends.

Pray

We prayed that God would help us be loving and kind instead of being naughty.
