Uno and the State of Origin

We had one game of Uno to get us started. It was a long game and we began talking about walls that divide people. Not real brick or wire walls but what people do to hurt each other. Like how when we can get picked on at school because we are different to some other kids. For example when Origen is on and we are from NSW it can be hard when everyone is barracking for Queensland.

Our first picture represents the walls people have which cause separation and division. It may be on the basis of what family or country you were born in, or whether your family is rich or poor.

Christ breaks through the barriers

Jesus Christ helps people with different backgrounds love each other despite their differences. This breaks down the wall between people so that they can love each other rather than fight with each other.

Mrs Backhouse talked about this before our small group how she has seen people care for one another even though they were from different Casts. A cast is like a group of people and they don’t have anything to do with a different cast. Those who come to believe in Christ can love people who are different to themselves. Christ is the ultimate peacemaker. He makes peace between us and God. He makes peace between people who were used to ignoring and hurting each other because they were different.
