What’s with the name?

‘Globus’ is Latin for ball. Dudes is slang for all those in my class. So they are the ball dudes because Felix accidentally started a new world religion which I will explain more fully later.

Religious Stuff

Students were encouraged to share what they thought was religious and non religious. Here are some results:

Gambling, violent video games are non religious. Mainly because it makes religious people frown. But then perhaps these activities are actually religious in an ‘anti’ kind of way.

So is there anything you can do in this world that would be neutral religiously? How about watching TV, or bouncing a ball, or brushing your teeth or State of Origin?

What is a religion? After all when you watch the Tennis, or go to the football it is a religious experience for many people. So maybe a religion is whatever people worship. So football, your girl friend, your car, work, or anything you really love can become your religion.

Felix’s new world religion

On behalf of Felix I made up a new world religion focused on bouncing balls. I made Felix the high priest so that everyone has to be nice to him so that he would call out your name which would mean that when you died you got to go to a world where you could bounce as many balls as you wanted. Those that aren’t named go to a world where all the balls are flat.

One man’s religion

To press my point I used the example of one man, pictured here as a boy. His religion was Germany. He wanted to make it the best place in the world. To do that he had to get rid of all the people who were inferior so that only those who were the best could breed and finally produce the ultimate and perfect human race. This man was Hitler and he exterminated Jews, blacks, homosexuals and disabled people on mass.

Be aware of the impact you are having

I’m not trying to freak you guys out but just make one simple point. Your beliefs, your religion, what you worship does have an impact on this world and the people in it. Better to be conscious of your beliefs so that you can make good decisions not just for yourself but for the world. This is what we will be exploring in these classes.
