I can remember when Michele sent me to the Supermarket to get some caster sugar. It seemed a simple enough task until I got there and was faced with choices of brand, quantity, prices and types.

Never send a man out to get something from the shops unless you give him clear instructions and encouragement that he will survive the experience. When faced with the choices of life; morally, socially, financially, spiritually, politically etc it can all be rather overwhelming. Malachi 4 gives us hope and direction. First, it is worth serving God because the wicked will be punished and the righteous will be rewarded v1-3. Secondly, there is direction v4-6. We understand that salvation is by faith in Christ alone. The Ten Commandments are the rule of life we live by once we have been saved. That is why Malachi instructs his readers to remember the Ten Commandments. Many people live without hope and without direction. If you feel lost in a sea of choices, if you feel like giving up on your faith or perhaps just coasting, then ask God to help you trust in Him so that you can receive hope and direction for your life.
