Movies are million dollar sermons

They often take months to write, involve many people and are mostly over and forgotten in a few hours. But while you may not remember aspects of a movie their message may have touched you in ways you may not realise.

Culture, current and future

Whether movies mean to or not they reflect life as we know it. And so we can learn something of our current culture and thinking. Movies also seek to challenge and change our current culture by seeking to make us see the world differently and thus to change the way we think and live. Movies are an expression of an idea, a philosophy, a view of life, just like music and art. My hobby is to reflect upon what movies are seeking to say (preach) about life, what it is, and what it should be.

Personal reflection

This blog is not objective but personal and reflective. I want to be open about the way a movie affects me, how it has challenged my thinking, what things I have heard it say and what things I have learned.

It is necessary for me to warn you that plots may be revealed or that plots may not even be discussed. This is not really a movie review but rather a reflection on a movie. This blog perhaps is more for someone who has seen a movie and is interested in seeing what I thought about it and whether they agree.

Blogs on movies are not recommendations for you to see that movie nor do they condone ideas and content that may offend some people.

Scoring

Movies will be given a score and I will try and indicate on what bases the score is given. Sometimes movies are just fun; they don’t say much, other films a very provoking and challenging.
