What for?

This class will encourage students to explore their spirituality, which to a large degree is the story of their own lives and how they understand that story in the world they live in.

What is Spirituality?

Knowing? That is the pursuit of knowledge, faith, something connected to religion.

Meaning or Chance

We were encouraged to think about whether we think life has meaning or whether it is random. Most of us wanted a blend of the two, thinking in terms of some things making sense but life is also pretty random. No one shared that they believe in an actual supreme being who oversees everything.

One student shared that they believed in some form of reincarnation.

Super Power

Is life random?

Is our world designed and with purpose?

What super power would you have? Magic like Harry Potter, Teleporting, Mind Reading, Fly.

Encouragement

I explained to students that a religion was a persons explanation of the world they lived in that they thought matched their own story (life). This can change as people have different experiences and re-assess their interpretation of the world.

My challenge is that students think about their lives, why do they think they exist, is there a purpose for them as an individual. And how do they think they fit into the bigger picture of their family, community and world?
