How to cope when you're not coping E-mail

Psalm 34 - Listen to this message now in Real Audio or download as MP3

God is like a swiss army knife....

If you ever go hiking in the bush don’t take with you a person who demands a working toilet, electricity for their hair dryer, hot water for a shower and a coffee machine for their cappuccino. You want someone who is happy as long as they have their Swiss Army Knife. No need, no dilemma or crisis is too big for them as long as they have their knife. King David was like that but with God.

Whatever situation David found himself in, even when he wasn’t coping, he always got through because he depended on God. Many of us are high maintenance so it doesn’t take much to go wrong before we start spitting the dummy. The reason is that we never expect to be put in situations that we can’t cope with; we always want to feel like we are in control. But reality often proves us wrong and so we find ourselves falling apart. We need to learn from Psalm 34 that God is like a Swiss Army Knife. Whatever situation we find ourselves in; if we depend on God then God will get us through. Why don’t you let go of your need to feel like you’re in control and let God get on with his job of being God
