Today was a bit of a fizzer, or should I say I fizzed out? We watched a bit of the Matrix where Morpheus offers Neo a pill that will show him the truth and a pill that we leave him as he is.

Trick was I had a lot in my group that hadn’t seen the film. This should not be a surprise because we worked out that they were nine when it came out. And the matrix is a film you can’t explain in a few minutes.

We kind of discussed whether we believed in fate or that we were in control of our lives. Some said they believed both were true. We also tried to discuss what is real. Someone said that reality is can be tested by our senses, sight, touch, taste, hearing. The point of the matrix is that computers simulated all these experiences so that people thought they were in control while in fact they were slaves. As a Christian I think this is very close to the truth. We have a soul and there is more to life than the physical world. My desire is to stimulate the students to explore that reality, to take the pill of truth even though what that reveals may end up being scaring than what happens to Neo in the movie.

Oh, we had ‘B’ for Belinda help out today and I look forward to her joining the team.
