God is like an Olympic athlete....

There is a way to get to hang out with Olympic athletes. The trick is that you have to become one. Then you get to compete with them and hang out with them. Now for most of us this isnít really a very good option. We just wonít be able to make the cut; too old, too fat, too lazy, too slow, too unco (uncoordinated). There is one other way. If you become one of their friends they might introduce you to some of the other athletes. But this depends on them being very gracious. After all, most people would like to be their friend. Itís the same with God. If you want to connect to God then you need to meet his standards. Unfortunately none of us can (v23). So God provides another way. God is prepared to befriend anyone who believes in Jesus. Why?

Because Jesus is like a gold medalist when it comes to meeting Godís standards and he is also able to overcome our failure to qualify and perform. Through faith in Christ we become like an Olympic athlete, able to hang out with God not because of our performance but because of Christís. Thatís what makes Jesus Christ so special. So put your trust in Christ and get connected to God.
